Rain saver
with cherry tomato cans
Welcome to our DIY Rainwater Harvesting Project! Learn how to create a simple system to collect rainwater and nurture your garden sustainably. Let’s get started!
What do you need
- • 5 Mutti Cherry tomato cans
- • Can opener
- • Acrylic paints / paintbrush
- • Pliers
- • Electrician scissors
- • Hot glue
- • Drill/screwdriver
- • Wooden wall or support or other material
- • Watering can
Step 1
Take the 5 Mutti Cherry Cans and, using a can opener, remove the sharp inner top ring. Paint the cans with acrylic colors according to your taste
Step 2
Make a square/rectangular cut on each can using a drill/screwdriver and electrician scissors
Step 3
On one of the cans, also bend the upper ring to create a spout using pliers
Step 4
Using hot glue, attach the cans to a vertical support (preferably a wooden wall) following a “cascade” pattern, with the can with the spout as the last one, allowing rainwater to flow down into the various cans and finally, with the last step in the can with the spout, be collected in a watering can underneath
