WE HAVE CROWNED OUR GOLDEN TOMATO COOK 2023 WINNER
CONGRATULATIONS SHEEL PATEL
Congratulations to Sheel Patel who produced the menu with the highest score and was crowned our Mutti Golden Tomato Cook 2023 winner. Sheel has won a once in a lifetime trip to Parma, Italy – the home of Mutti, in the Italian Food Valley as well as an exclusive mentorship from chef Ben Tish.
After the success of the competition last year, we were back on the search for our UK Golden Tomato Cook 2023. We asked consumers to create a 3-course menu using 3 different Mutti products from the essentials range making the Mutti product the hero of each recipe.
The creators of the top 3 menus took part in the live cook-off at Sauce by The Langham in London on 19 th October where their menus were judged by our panel of expert judges – Ben Tish, Gabriella Margiotta, Nigel Barden and Carlo Casoni – based on the criteria:
- Making the Mutti Essentials product the hero of the dish
- Originality
- Presentation (hero’ing the tomatoes)
- Overall menu appeal
- Taste
Sheel Patel’s winning three-course tomato-based menu featured:
- Starter: Deep-fried za’atar pickles with Bloody Mary Dipping Sauce
- Main: Mussels in a Spicy Tomato Broth
- Bonus dish: Tomato Cheesecake
In 2nd place was Will Clowes who created a starter of Seared Scallops with Tomato and Pancetta Jam, and a Pea, Caper and Lemon Puree, a main of Hearty Meatballs with Homemade Focaccia and a bonus dish of Orange, Peach and Tomato Mousse.
3rd place went to Trish Moroney who created a starter of Twice Baked Tomato and Cheese Soufflé, a main course of Provençal Fish Stew and a bonus dish of Tomato and Vodka Sorbet.

POMODORINO D’ORO AND THE GOLDEN TOMATO COOK COMPETITION
Have you heard about our Pomodorino d’Oro award?
It takes place every year and has been going for more than 20 years. The “Golden Tomato” award is awarded to Mutti’s best farmers, who’s lovingly cared for cultivation area has produced the highest quality tomatoes whilst using sustainable practices.
The award is given in three categories:
- Round tomatoes
- Long tomatoes
- Cherry tomatoes
Coming back for a 3rd year, we’re excited to find the UK’s Golden Tomato Cook 2023. We’re looking for the most tasty and original 3-course menu using the Mutti Essentials range of products. Only the best cook who really succeeds in creating an innovative menu can claim the Golden Tomato Cook award.
