With this determination, Ugo Mutti launched the first tube of tomato paste on the market in 1951. From the simple idea of using what were then aluminium tubes for creams and toothpastes, combined with research to perfect the internal coating, a product was created that could preserve tomato paste for longer, offering great convenience.

The paste soon became increasingly popular in the kitchen. It was a product that lasted longer in the pantry and could be used without waste. An invention made even more unique by its thimble-shaped cap: a perfect companion for the sewing jobs of an entire generation.
