 BAKED BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE

Made with Doppio Concentrato

Tomato Paste (Mutti Doppio Concentrato) is a great way to add rich flavour, colour and texture to dishes. Used for recipes that require long cooking times such as sauces and casseroles. 5,5 kg of tomatoes = 1 kg of Tomato Paste

Ingredients

  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 1 clove garlic grated
  • 2 leaves fresh bay
  • 1 tablespoon Concentrato (Tomato Paste)
  • 400 g Polpa (Finely Chopped Tomatoes)
  • 1 tin cannellini beans
  • pinch salt
  • pinch pepper

 BAKED BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE: Method

  1. In hot olive oil, fry onions and garlic on low, until soft.
  2. Add tomato paste, bay leaves, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. Cook for a minute.
  3. Add Mutti tomatoes and a little water by rinsing out the tin.
  4. Cook for 20mins or until the sauce is thick and rich.
  5. Add beans and cook for a couple of minutes until beans are heated through.
  6. Serve baked beans in tomato sauce on your choice of toast with a sprinkling of fresh herbs.
