Made with Cherry tomatoes

Mutti Cherry Tomatoes complement your food with their rich, sweet and intense flavor. They grow in southern Italy, where they are harvested and sorted carefully to maintain their incredible taste and freshness. They are perfect for fish dishes or to bring tomato flavor to your focaccias, pastas and sauces.


  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions diced (2 cups)
  • 6 cloves garlic chopped
  • 2 celery stalks diced (1 cup)
  • 2 granny smith apples peeled, cored and diced (2 cups)
  • 2 tins Mutti Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1 tins 1/2 water
  • 6 pitted dates
  • 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 6 cloves whole
  • 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Sugar free tomato sauce: Method

  1. In a large pot, cook onions, garlic, celery and apples for 10-15minutes, until they begin to soften.
  2. Add cinnamon, cloves, paprika and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Stir well and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Remove cinnamon stick and cloves.
  5. Add dates and vinegar. Simmer for another hour.
  6. Blend all ingredients with a stick blender and strain through a sieve.
  7. Return mixture to stovetop. Heat on low and reduce until you have a sauce consistency.
  8. Fill sterilised jars while sauce is hot.
