Spicy tomato jam sage turkey burgers

Spicy tomato jam sage turkey burgers

Made with Chopped tomatoes

The Mutti Chopped Tomatoes maintains all the freshness of freshly-harvested tomatoes. It’s a unique product because it is chopped especially finely for an abundance of tomato pieces in every bite and a rich, consistent texture. Mutti Polpa brings together the tomato juice and its most pulpy part, a feature which makes it ideally suited for long cooking times even at high temperatures, like in the oven. Alternatively, it captures the fresh flavour of perfectly ripe tomatoes so well that it can be used straight from the tin in dishes like bruschetta or salsas. It is also ideal for homemade pizza, for recipes with meat, vegetables and legumes and to dress fresh durum wheat pasta or egg pasta

Spicy tomato jam sage turkey burgers: Method

For the tomato jam:

  1. In a saucepan toss onion with 1 tbsp olive oil, until softened. Add tomatoes and tomato purée, mix well and cook for a couple of minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients and let it boil for 3 minutes. Then reduce the heat and let it cook for another 45 min until it reduces to a thick jam. Make sure you don’t let it burn. Mix occasionally.

For the turkey burgers:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the turkey mince, sage, and mustard, and season well. Divide equally into 4 and shape into burger patties.
  2. Preheat the grill to high. Preheat a griddle pan until hot, brush the burgers with a little oil and cook in batches, for 8 minutes, turning halfway, until cooked through.
  3. Grill the buns cut-side up until lightly toasted.
  4. Layer the lettuce, red onion and burger on a toasted base. Top with the tangy tomato jam.
  5. Secure with a cocktail stick; serve immediately.
  6. Enjoy!
