Italian Bruschetta Recipe with Crushed Tomatoes: Method
- Pour Mutti® Crushed Tomatoes into a fine strainer and allow to drain for 30 minutes to remove some of the moisture, stirring occasionally.
- Stir together the drained tomatoes and 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a small bowl. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and set aside on the counter for 3 hours before serving to allow flavors to blend and develop.
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Arrange bread slices on a large baking sheet. Brush with the remaining olive oil. Bake 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted. Rub each slice with the cut side of one of the garlic cloves.
- To serve, stir tomato mixture and spread about 1 tablespoon on each toast slice. Garnish with thinly sliced fresh basil.
